Hi! My name is Ed Higgins. I am currently a freelancing flight instructor in Ohio. I am very excited about joining the Mentoring network and hope to provide insightful information to the demanding task of flight instruction.
I fell in love with airplanes, in general, at a very young age. I couldn't get enough. I used to make my dad take me to the local airport to get me airplane rides as often as he could. From those experiences, it led me to choose Aviation for my college major. I spent the better part of four years in flight training at Ohio University.
After graduation I spent a few months at a flight school, but then I decided to strike it out on my own. I've developed a very effective method of recruiting students who own their own airplane. All in all, it’s been a rewarding journey so far, and I hope I can make your journey end up the same way.

| Favorite thing about flying: |
| The ability for an hour or two, to just get away from everything and look at the world and imagine a world of nothing but good. It's harder to do on the ground.
|
| Disadvatages of being a pilot: |
The biggest problem with flight instructing is finding the students. If you don't have any students, you won't do any flying.
|
| What you would have done different: |
| Nothing at all, I am fairly content with the way everything turned out for me. |
| Advice to aspiring pilots: |
| The weather will never cooperate, but you must persevere. |
| Problems encounterd along the way: |
The lack of good, highly motivated instructors. If your instructor doesn't meet your needs, do not hesitate to find a new one.
